Straight out of high school I knew I wanted to be working in makeup and with cosmetics companies. I am grateful that my parents allowed me to go along with my own plan, and not force me to spend a fortune on a degree I'd never use. They've never stifled my creativity and I always encouraged me in whichever path I took.

This is a loaded question... but I'd have to say my first work trip with MAC was pretty incredible. I built lifelong friendships there, that are still going strong 15+ years later. We were put up in the Regent Beverly Wilshire for 10 days (yes, the Pretty Woman hotel!) and had a private party at the Playboy Mansion. Ya... that *really* happened!

Oh... I can't pick just one. Footloose, Clueless, Devil Wears Prada, Walk The Line.

I am always worrying about something. Not a quality, but hey, it's true!

A fixture in Ottawa’s beauty scene for over 19 years, One Fine Beauty Founder and Owner, Shannon Ranger, has worked with women of every age group helping them feel confident and beautiful. Her outstanding makeup artistry began as a young child and has since grown to make One Fine Beauty one of the most highly recommended and sought-after professional makeup services in Canada’s national capital.

Following her graduation from Versailles Academy, with honours, Shannon began her professional career in a successful urban salon and spa. After a couple of years, and while testing the freelance waters, Shannon took a position with MAC Cosmetics, where she would remain for close to a decade.

During her time at MAC she was promoted to the coveted position of Resident Trainer, responsible for facilitating and co-facilitating core trainings to MAC’s new and tenured artists. Shannon’s advanced makeup skills and role as Resident Trainer at MAC enabled her to work on various fashion shows, including Fashion Cares in Toronto, and Miss Universe Canada in Montreal. To keep her skills fresh, she has attended many workshops over the years with world-renowned makeup artists, such as Mario DedivanovicKabukiVe Neill, Joanne Gair and Nathalie Gagné, to name a few.

As one of Ottawa’s elite makeup artists, Shannon has worked with thousands (yes... thousands) of women and men. Her clients also include TSN’s SportsCentre panelists, NHL on NBC, and Rogers Sportsnet. Most recently she's worked with Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir for their Canadian Olympic Committee official flag bearers campaign, as well as Cirque du Soleil, while they were in Ottawa for their Canada 150th performance on Parliament Hill.

As her client roster continues to grow, so does One Fine Beauty. Shannon is proud to work with a handpicked team of highly skilled, professional, and talented makeup artists.

Shannon shares her love and knowledge of beauty at seminars, lessons, galas, and other events, and is a regular guest on CTV Morning Live Ottawa where she fills us in on the latest beauty and makeup techniques.

In addition to being a talented makeup artist and business owner, Shannon is also a proud mom of two young children and a devoted wife; and in her spare time she can be found in her workshop creating sought-after wooden furniture pieces… or binge-watching Netflix!
